Super easy pillow covers - Filipa Carneiro

Aos poucos a casa vai ficando arrumada. Mas ainda lhe faltam as decorações que ajudam a tornar a casa mesmo “nossa”. Resolvi começar por fazer umas capas de almofadas para o sofá. Comprei uns tecidos giros, somei uma tarde de costura e fiquei com uma sala visivelmente mais bonita e bem mais confortavel!
Estas capas de almofada são muito simples de fazer e utilizar tecidos diferentes dá-lhes mais graça. Querem experimentar?

The house is getting more organized. But misses all the decorations that really helps to turn the house into our home. I have decided to start with some easy pillow covers to put on the living room couch. Bought some nice fabrics, added a sewing afternoon and got a much more beautiful and comfortable living room. It’s really simple and the contrasting fabrics turned out pretty well.

1) Começamos por juntar o material: tecidos, linha de algodão, tesoura (ou cortador rotativo e base de corte), alfinetes e máquina de costura.

1) Start by gathering your materials: fabrics, cotton thread, scissors (or rotary cutter and cutting mat), pins, sewing machine.

2) Devemos medir a almofada e cortar no tecido principal um quadrado da medida da almofada + 2 cm (margens de costura). No meu caso: um quadrado com (40+2) = 42cm de lado. Para o tecido de trás cortar 2 rectagulos de 42cm x (metade da altura da almofada + 10cm de sobreposição). No meu caso: 2 rectangulos de 42cm x 30cm.

2) Start by measuring the pillow and cut on the main fabric a square with the width and length of the pillow+2cm (seam allowance). In my case: one square with 42cm sides. For the back fabric, cut 2 rectangles with the with of the main fabric and the length is (half height of the pillow+10cm). In my case: two rectangles with 42cm x 30cm.

3) Nos rectangulos do tecido de trás, forme a baínha: dobre duas vezes o lado da largura e costure na máquina, com uma margem de costura de 2,5cm.

3) On the rectangles of the back fabric, make the hem: double fold the length side and sew with a 2,5cm seam allowance.

4) Coloque os tecidos juntos, direito com direito e sobrepondo as bainhas na parte de trás. Fixe com alfinetes e costure, deixando cerca de 1 cm de margem.

4) Place both fabrics together, right sides facing and overlapping the hems on the back. Pin it and sew on the machine with a 1cm seam allowance.

5) Dobre a capa de almofada para o lado direito e está pronta!

5) Turn the pillow to the right side and that’s it!
